THE 30 DAY
CONFIDENT COMMUNICATION CHALLENGE

Today, we’re focusing on another key element of vocal variety: Pace and Pause, and how mastering these can help you become a more effective leader when Communicating Strategy Clearly.

Think about how important it is for your team to understand the direction you’re heading. The speed at which you speak and the moments of silence you use can make a huge difference in their comprehension and engagement.

For your one-minute video today, I want you to explain a key strategic priority for your team. As you do this, consciously play with the speed of your delivery. Slow down when you’re emphasizing crucial information, and speed up slightly when you’re covering less critical details. Also, be intentional about using pauses. A well-placed pause can give your listeners time to absorb information and can also add emphasis to what you’ve just said or what you’re about to say.

After you’ve recorded your video, watch it back and listen carefully to your pacing and use of pauses. Did you feel like you gave your listeners enough time to understand the key points? Were there any moments where speeding up or slowing down felt particularly effective? Note down one instance where you felt your pace or pause enhanced clarity, and one area where you could be more intentional with your pacing or use of silence tomorrow. Let’s make your strategic communication crystal clear!”
