THE 30 DAY
CONFIDENT COMMUNICATION CHALLENGE
Alright everyone, welcome to Week 2! Today is Day 8, and we’re shifting our focus to the powerful world of Expressive Facial Expressions and how they help you in Showing Empathy and Understanding as a leader.
Think about how much of our communication isn’t just about the words we say, but also about what our faces convey. As a leader, your ability to show empathy and understanding through your facial expressions can build strong connections and trust with your team.

For your one-minute video today, I want you to tell a short story about a time you showed empathy to a team member through your non-verbal cues – perhaps a look of concern, a warm smile, or a nod of understanding. As you recount this story, consciously practice matching your facial expressions to the emotions you’re describing. If you’re talking about a challenge someone faced, let your expression reflect that. If you’re talking about offering support, let your face convey warmth and understanding.

After you’ve recorded your video, watch it back and pay close attention to your facial expressions. Did they feel genuine and aligned with your story? Did you notice any moments where your expression might not have matched your words? Note down one instance where you felt your facial expressions effectively conveyed empathy, and one area where you could be more mindful of your expressions tomorrow. Let’s connect with our teams on a deeper level!”
