THE 30 DAY
CONFIDENT COMMUNICATION CHALLENGE

Welcome to Day 23! Today, we’re continuing our storytelling journey by focusing on Showing, Not Telling and how this technique helps in Illustrating Leadership Principles.

Think about the difference between saying “Trust is important” and sharing a specific story that demonstrates how trust was built or broken on your team and the impact it had. Showing allows your audience to experience the principle rather than just hearing about it, making your message much more powerful and memorable.

For your one-minute video today, I want you to share a short story that highlights a key leadership principle, such as trust, accountability, resilience, or courage. As you tell your story, consciously focus on using vivid language, specific details, and examples to illustrate the principle in action. Instead of saying someone was resilient, describe the specific actions they took that demonstrated their resilience.

After you’ve recorded your video, watch it back and pay attention to where you used descriptive language and examples. Did you effectively “show” the leadership principle in action? Were there any moments where you might have relied too much on just stating the principle? Note down one instance where you felt you showed effectively, and one area where you could add more descriptive detail tomorrow to bring your story to life. Let’s make your leadership principles resonate through your stories!
